The Eating Motivation Survey

Description:

The Eating Motivation Survey, TEMS for short, was developed by Renner et al. (2012) to investigate why people eat what they eat. There is a full version with 78 items and a short version with 45 items. The answers can be given on a 7-point Likert scale from "never" to "always". The TEMS consists of 15 subscales: liking, habits, need and hunger, health, convenience, pleasure, traditional food, natural concerns, sociability, price, visual appeal, weight control, affect regulation, social norms, social image. This 15-factor structure of the TEMS was confirmed by Sproesser et al. (2018) in a sample of Indians, Americans and Germans.
