Empathy and emotion regulation in patients in a correctional facility.
- What is the aim of our study?
The study should help to increase our knowledge about emotions, with a focus on empathy and emotion regulation, in patients in a correctional facility and give indications about the effectiveness of the treatment, which could also improve future therapies. In our study, we are therefore not only examining patients in the Maßregelvollzug, but also individuals from the general population in order to be able to draw comparisons. We are therefore looking for you as a healthy control person to help us gain these insights.
- Who can participate in the study?
We are looking for people (men and women) between the ages of 18 and 60, with no previous physical illnesses and no high school diploma.
- How does the study work?
To determine if you are eligible for the study, we will first conduct a non-binding phone call with you during which we will ask you questions about yourself and your mental health. If you are eligible and would like to participate in the study, a total of 4 appointments will take place. Of these, two will take place promptly and two approximately one year later.
- What is the time commitment?
Every appointment lasts about 2 hours. Appointments are arranged according to your personal possibilities.
- Is there an expense allowance?
There is a total expense allowance of 100 euros for participation in the study.

Therapy effects and prediction in the inpatient treatment of patients with psychosis
What is the aim of our study?
We want to expand our knowledge about psychoses, to investigate the effects of inpatient psychotherapy and to develop models in the future to predict therapy courses.
Who can participate in the study?
For comparison purposes, we are looking for healthy control subjects aged 18 and over who do not have any current mental disorders or neurological diseases and are MRI-ready. They should also have sufficient knowledge of German.
What is the study process?
First, we ask about exclusion criteria in a non-binding telephone conversation to check your suitability for study participation. If you are suitable, we arrange the study appointments together. Two appointments will take place promptly, two more will take place about 6 months later.
At the first appointment at ZfP Reichenau, we conduct a diagnostic interview, measure your heart rate, you complete a short task and fill out questionnaires.
On the second appointment, an fMRI examination takes place at the Schmieder Clinics in Allensbach. We examine your brain activation while you complete tasks on social-cognitive processes.
What is the time involved?
Each of the four appointments take about 2 - 2.5 hours.
Is there an expense allowance?
For your participation you will receive an expense allowance of 20€ per appointment, i.e. 80€ in total. In addition, you will receive a travel allowance of 10€ for each appointment.
