School Catering Day

On 23 September, the National Quality Center for Nutrition in Nurseries and Schools (NQZ) hosted the School Catering Day in an online format. Prof. Dr. Britta Renner gave the keynote speech “Food is more than catering - Why we need (more) ‘social’ food” (in German).


WWF Germany's online course on sustainable eating

WWF Germany designed this free course and created it together with external scientists. Prof. Dr. Britta Renner was responsible for Chapter 3: Designing fair food environments.

The course is aimed at anyone interested in sustainable nutrition and its impact on the environment and society.

From April 22, 2024, the course will be available permanently and free of charge at the WWF Academy: wwf.de/foodkurs

From the WWF factsheet on the course:

Sustainable eating is an issue of increasing importance in today's world. The way we produce, consume and dispose of food has a direct impact on our health, the environment and the well-being of future generations. The intensification of agriculture, the use of pesticides and herbicides and the high consumption of meat have negative consequences for our environment and health. It is time to raise awareness of these problems and find sustainable solutions.

The course deals with the causes and consequences of current eating habits and offers insights into the basics of sustainable food systems. Experts such as Prof. Dr. von Braun, Prof. Dr. Achim Spiller, Prof. Dr. Britta Renner as well as Elisa Kollenda and Thorsten Steuerwald from WWF will address important topics such as nutrition in a global context, the design of fair food environments and the political dimensions of sustainable nutrition. They will also highlight ways to develop conscious eating habits and discuss ways to actively participate in the promotion of sustainable nutrition.
