This project of Brigitte Rockstroh and Michael Odenwald within the DFG research group "Risk Dynamics" focuses on risk perception with alcohol addiction in order to increase the understanding of the paradox formed by risky consumption in spite of the knowledge of objective health risks. Furthermore we look into specifiying the interaction of subjective perception of risk and change of comportment through variation of feedback (exposure) and preparing factors (preparedness).
We will be doing controlled clinical intervention including personalized and therapeutic feedback with regard to the risks of abusive consumption of alcolhol as well as mindset induction before intervention.
We also plan to execute empirical and experimental study designs that will research risk perception and risk behavior on a subjective, behavioral and cortical level in persons with different consumption behavior.
We expect our findings to be relevant for the further development of diagnostic and therapeutic strategies and for generating theories.
